Privacy Policy for Brush

Effective Date: 2026-09-28

1. Introduction

Brush is a table tennis game for iPhone and iPad, published by qpilgrim. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app collects, why, and what choices you have. Brush has no accounts or sign-in. It does not show ads and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

2. Information Stored on Your Device

Your career characters, progress, coins, equipment, settings and lesson history are saved only on your device. They are not sent to us. Deleting the app deletes them.

3. App Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase)

Brush uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how many people use the app and how it performs. It collects:

  • a random app instance identifier created when the app is installed. It is not your name, email, Apple Account or advertising identifier
  • device and app details, such as device model, iOS version, app version and language
  • usage events, such as first open, sessions and screens viewed
  • gameplay events, such as lessons finished or skipped, matches played and won, which kinds of shots land, progress up the career ladder, shop purchases made with in-game coins, and how smoothly the game runs
  • an approximate country or region, which Google works out from your network address

This data is processed by Google under the Google Privacy Policy. Brush does not use it for advertising and does not link it to your identity. Brush does not access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), and it turns off Google's collection of the vendor identifier (IDFV) and its advertising features.

You can turn analytics off at any time under Help improve Brush › Share usage analytics. This stops collection and clears the analytics identifier on your device.

4. Optional Game Reports ("Help improve Brush")

Game reports are off by default. Brush asks before turning them on, and you can turn them off at any time under Help improve Brush. If you turn them on, the app sends a report after each game. Each report contains:

  • gameplay details, such as the shots you tried, rally lengths, how each point ended and the game mode
  • a small number of short motion samples of individual shots, recorded as numbers (ball and bat movement and finger position on the screen), not video
  • performance measurements, such as frame timing, input delay, screen size and app build
  • in career games: the stage, equipment rarity, abilities used, Focus spent and style score (never your character's name or coins)
  • any rating you choose to give after a game

Reports contain no name, account, contact details or device identifier, and they cannot be used to identify you. They are sent to a server we operate, hosted on OpenAI's website hosting service. The hosting provider necessarily handles your network address to deliver the report. For rate limiting, we store only a salted hash of that address that changes every hour, never in the report itself.

Reports are deleted automatically after 90 days. Turning reports off stops future reports and clears any that are still waiting on your device. Reports already received stay until they expire. We use reports only to improve how the game plays.

Point reports (test builds only). In test versions of Brush (TestFlight), a small flag during play lets you report a specific point. Nothing is sent unless you type a note and tap Send. A point report contains the note you write, the last ten seconds of play recorded as numbers (ball and bat movement and finger position on the screen, not video), the score and game settings at the time, your equipment, your device model (for example "iPhone 15") and the app build. Please don't include personal details in your note: it is free text and is read by the developer to fix the game. Point reports are stored and deleted like game reports, after 90 days, and are used only to fix how the game plays. The App Store version of Brush does not show the flag.

5. Online and Nearby Play

Online matches use Apple's Game Center. Apple's privacy policy governs your Game Center account. To run a match, Brush receives your opponent's Game Center display name and a game-specific player identifier. Your opponent's copy of Brush receives yours.

When you play as a career character, Brush sends your opponent's device the character's name, level, highest stage reached, portrait colour and the coins you stake. This information goes directly between the two devices, is not sent to us, and is used only for that match and its result.

Nearby play uses your local network to find and connect to the other device. It needs your permission for local network access. Nothing about nearby play is sent to us.

6. Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell your information or share it for advertising. The only third parties involved are Google (analytics), Apple (Game Center) and our hosting provider (game reports), each for the purposes described above.

7. Children

Brush is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Brush has no chat. In online play, the only things another player sees are your Game Center display name and your career character's name.

8. Your Choices and Rights

You can turn usage analytics and game reports off in the app at any time, and you can decline local network access or sign out of Game Center in iOS Settings. Depending on where you live (for example, the EU, UK or California), you may have the right to access or delete personal information about you. The data we receive is not linked to your identity, so we usually cannot find a particular person's records. If you have a request, contact us and we will help where we can.

9. Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date above.

10. Contact Information
